Research
The Centre for Planetary Science and Exploration (CPSX) is highly interdisciplinary in nature and comprises over 50 faculty from 10 different departments across campus:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Earth Sciences
- Electrical and Computer Engineering
- Geography
- History
- Mechanical and Materials Engineering
- Philosophy
- Physics and Astronomy
- Surgery
Amongst our ranks are five Canada Research Chairs and two NSERC Industrial Research Chairs. The quality and diversity of the Centre’s research activities continue to distinguish CPSX within the University, within Canada, and internationally. Our Department has excelled in attracting NSERC, CFI, and CSA funding for research projects at all scales. Fifteen of the core CPSX faculty are responsible for bringing in over $16 million in funding over the past 5 years.
CPSX research is organized into 12 broad themes, outlined here. We also run, or contribute to, several field sites, space missions, and analogue missions, details of which are provided on the various pages.
